Veronica Ann Edwards is the recipient of the 2010 Alumni of Distinction Award for Professional Achievement. This is the highest honor the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) can bestow upon alumni, who are selected for this prestigious award based on their professional accomplishments.

Ms. Edwards is the founder, president and CEO of InGenesis Diversified Healthcare Solutions, which she established in San Antonio in 1998. She has taken InGenesis from a single-employee, home-based staffing agency to one of Inc. magazine’s 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the United States. Inc. also ranked InGenesis in the top 100 of fastest growing private human resources firms in the U.S. Additionally, InGenesis ranked first in the human resources industry in San Antonio in 2009.

From its corporate headquarters in San Antonio, InGenesis manages more than 750 medical professionals at 54 facilities in 24 states. InGenesis is expanding to provide additional management consulting, global staffing and disaster assistance, with a focus on emergency preparedness. Company revenues increased from $905,000 in 2005 to approximately $15 million in 2009, and are on track to exceed $50 million in 2010.

Ms. Edwards is the recipient of numerous professional honors and awards. In 2007 Compass Bank and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce presented her with a Latina Business Excellence Award. In 2008 the San Antonio’s office of the Small Business Administration named her as Small Business Person of the Year. In 2009 the San Antonio Business Journal recognized Ms. Edwards for superior “Entrepreneurial Leadership” at the 2009 Women’s Leadership Awards.

Meanwhile, the 11-state regional office of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency named InGenesis the 2009 Minority Service Firm of the Year. And the San Antonio Business Journal has recognized InGenesis as one of the Largest San Antonio Permanent Placement Agencies annually from 2003 to 2009.

Ms. Edwards earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Texas State University. She earned a master’s degree in business administration from UIW, where she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in human resources/organizational leadership.

Ms. Edwards resides in San Antonio with her husband and two young children.
